Palaver October 17th

We are bringing all our most glittery and colourful friends to throw a FABULOUS performance party for kids (and their grown-ups too!).

Prepare yourselves, because this autumn Cambridge Junction is going to be more FABULOUS than ever before. Join us for PALAVER! A season of inclusive family performances, workshops, and parties celebrating self-expression, difference and all the things that make us unique (with a big dose of glitter thrown in for good measure).

Presented in partnership with Fatt Projects, PALAVER is a space where everyone is free to be whoever they want to be, for kids (and their grown-ups too). With brand new performances from some of the UK’s leading drag, cabaret, and performance artists, fabulous discos, and creative workshops there’s something under the rainbow for mums, dads, boys, girls, and everyone in between.

Each PALALVER KIDS PARTY we’ll be joined by a spectacular line-up of performers and artists for the most exciting inclusive family disco Cambridge has ever seen. Get ready for music, performances, DIY costume-making, party games, sing-a-longs, glitter, and of course a rainbow disco for all the family.

Brand new performances from Vijay Patel and Emma Frankland, hosted by king of kings CYRO, with music and dancing from super DJ ShayShay, and DIY dress-up making with the fabulous Bourgeoisie.

Suitable for ages 3-8 (and fabulous for grown-ups too), bring the little ones, stick on a sequin or two, and get ready to boogie.

PALAVER is a welcoming space for everyone. If price is in any way a barrier to you engaging with this event, please contact Ema Boswood at and we can arrange tickets for you to attend.

Bringing our PALAVER season to its glittering conclusion is PALAVER FAMILY FESTIVAL (Thu 28 Oct), a day-long celebration of inclusive family performance work.

Praise for PALAVER

“The PALAVER! project looks absolutely wonderful! Having something like it when I was growing up would've been invaluable in creating a sense that I belonged to a larger community. There is still a woeful lack of resources available to young LGBTQ+ people and this project will go a long way in helping all children with their confidence, creativity and understanding. But mainly it looks so FUN!"

Joe Lycett, comedian, and broadcaster

“The Palaver Family Festival sounds absolutely wonderful. A celebration of inclusion, diversity and belonging. It looks as if it will be a manifestation of the brilliant (Stonewall) poster that many children and young people will have seen in their schools showing different examples of families but all adding up to the same experience of love. The aim of this work is timely and important; it is vital that all young people see themselves in the stories that are told of the world they live in and to see themselves reflected back so that they feel valued, appreciated and seen!”

Rae Snape, Headteacher/National Leader of Education and author of The Headteacher's Handbook (Bloomsbury, 2021)

"I took my daughter (8) and son (4) to PALAVER and we had a ball! The performers were lovely, engaging and lots of fun. My daughter loved the dancing and the story time, and my son was really into the bubbles and craft session. I would thoroughly recommend this show to all families as it has a bit of everything, songs, amazing artists, stories, dancing, and glitter!"

Becky, parent

"My daughter (aged 8) had an absolute blast at this event. She really enjoyed the crafts and the dancing and games. It was a fun, colourful event, well organised and thoroughly enjoyed by all those who attended. We will definitely be back!"

Emma, parent
